Sophie Austin

Join Bernadette Russell and Sophie Austin in the woods for a series of outdoor creative-writing workshops that will bring you closer to the wild within and without.

This is series of workshops for adults that will offer prompts and inspiration and gift you time to explore different perspectives and styles of writing whilst immersing yourself in the ancient woodland around you. They are open to anyone whether you are a professional writer already, have no experience at all, or if you are merely curious- everyone is welcome.

There are 4 sessions in this series and the ticket price includes them all.

Each session will have its own theme and prompts and activities will be offered in connection to these themes. At the end of each session, we will set a solo activity for you to complete in your own time.

Programme:

11th January, 2pm - 4pm – Welcome to the woods
We will walk together, listen to stories from the land and discuss our relationship with our own wild selves.

18th January, 2pm - 4pm – Wild Lore
We will gather around the fire and hear an ancient folk tale.
We will explore archetypes and consider how the wild is represented through ancient narratives.

25th January – 2pm - 4pm - New Lore

Through a guided meditation and solo time in the woods, you will be invited to meet with your imagination in the wild and craft a new story.

1st February – 2pm - 5pm - Wild Perspectives

In this session we will explore the different voices of our wilder kin and consider how they can be an expression of our own wilder selves.
This session will end with an Imbolc celebration; an opportunity to share any writing that has emerged through our time together and we will embrace the joy and magic of creating by giving thanks to the woodland for being our truest collaborator.
